The drops, the ocean

For just as from the heavens
the rain and the snow come down
And do not return there
till they have watered the earth,
making it fertile and fruitful,
Giving seed to him who sows
and bread to him who eats
So shall my word be
that goes forth from my mouth;
It shall not return to me empty,
but shall do my will,
achieving the end for which I sent it
(Is. 55,10-11)

The symbol of 'rain' as ordinary water drops that fall from an ocean of ‘living water’ is a suitable expression of a mystery that members of the Secular Institute “Christ the King” live in their daily ordinary lives.

This section of the website is dedicated to a few of the Institute’s members who have passed on.

They left us with a witness of a life that was a Lay Christian and yet consecrated. For them secularity and consecration were not separate realities, but something two aspects to be lived together, at the same time and in the same place. These are men who were bearers of a new expression of a church that is present in the world – and they were constantly tested for this expression. Yet through their very simple lives, often with no great theological or ecclesial significance, they provided a testament through their own lives; lives that were lived in the Church and before God who called them to a unique form, both in the church and in the world and for the world.
These simple lives may have escaped the attention of the world, but they remain for us, as faithful witnesses of a vocation and a mission that was lived in and for the world.
